Winter 2026 Hand-building and Wheel Basics/All Levels 8 weeks Jan 10-March 7
Hand-building and Wheel Basics/All Levels with Vicki Wilson
Saturdays, 10-12pm January 10-March 7 (no class on Feb 28)
This 8 week class is stretched to 9 weeks in order to accomodate Vicki’s Oregon Potters Association schedule but that means an extra weeks of Open Studio for students.
The class includes instruction, use of tools and studio equipment, clay and house glazes, firing, term long project storage, and aproximately 16 hours of open studio time per week.
Students may follow along or explore their interests. Vicki will always demonstrate basic handbuilding and wheel methods, glazing and cleaning as well as working on her own projects. Sculpture is always possible if students ask for it. Small class sizes mean individual attention for beginners, who may wish to follow along with demonstration projects. Advanced students may take a more self guided approach if they choose, asking for guidance as needed.
These are adult (16+) classes but mature 11-15 year olds may be able to attend with a parent who is also enrolled.
All students will be required to sign a safety waiver and studio practices acknowledgement when class begins.
About being a member: The 8 week class is the first step to becoming a studio member (when space is available and not gaurunteed). Even very advanced ceramicists are required to do this to join the membership. It’s how Vicki gets to know people before giving them 24 hour access to her studio. The membership studio is extremely autonomous and Vicki selects members for invitation who show prificiency, work confidently and safely but who are also kind and considerate of the intimate community they have joined. Membership is offered to adults 18 and over.
Refund Policies for Classes (from the description of each class written above the “add to cart” button): From the time you purchase a class enrollment until the day before class begins, you can drop the class and receive a 95% refund. (The website convenience we are enjoying right now costs me a percentage of every sale). If you cancel less than 24 hours before the first class begins, you will not receive a refund. If the instructor has to cancel an entire course at any time, students will receive a 100% refund. If the instructor has to cancel a class session and cannot make the class up in a satisfactory way, students will receive a refund for that session (prorated).
